Adoption & Fostering Support Services PDF Print E-mail
PACT recognises that adoption and fostering are both a lifelong process and, for all those involved, it is vital that they have access to a range of ongoing support.  PACT provides the following:

Duty Support

If you would like to talk to someone in confidence about adoption or fostering, we are available Monday to Friday from 10a.m. to 1p.m. for a no obligation chat on Freephone 0800 731 1845.

Fathers Group

This is a group for adoptive fathers (and those who are due to become adoptive fathers) enabling the exchange of ideas and sharing of experiences of parenting adopted children.

The group meets around 4 times a year and the fathers choose the format of the evening and any issues they wish to discuss.

Newsletters & Social Events

We work hard to keep in contact through our regular newsletters and invitations to social events such as our family fun day and picnic.Online - www.adoptionadvice.org

This innovative service includes extensive advice for adopters, families and parents, and adopted children and adults.  It is also a very informative resource for professionals working with those touched by adoption.

Search and Reunion Information

Advise and intermediary services for adopted adults and their birth relatives.

Social Workers

PACT adopters and foster carers have regular support from our dedicated and experienced team of social workers.

There is also access to 'Out of Hours' support throughout the year.

Specialist Services

PACT is always developing the services it provides and our new Homeopathy Support is receiving excellent feedback.

Support Groups & Workshops

Our foster carers have an established and well attended support group where they are able to share advice and keep up to date with the latest developments in childcare.  PACT adopters have access to regular local support groups and workshops.

The workshops cover a range of themes such as 'The Adopted Child in School' and 'Attachment Issues'.  Many have guest speakers and some are run by experienced adopters.

Therapy

FACTS (Fostering and Adoption Consultation & Therapy Service) provides adopters, foster carers, professionals and birth parents the opportunity to discuss issues related to adoption or fostering.

It is run by a multi-disciplinary team who understand the needs of adopted and permanently cared for children.

Training

In addition to our workshops, we work hard to ensure that PACT adopters and foster carers receive a training package suited to their individual needs.

Further Information:

Our support services are free to PACT families who have adopted children from the UK and to PACT foster carers.  They are also available to Intercountry adopters and others for a fee.
