South Abingdon Children's Centre
South Abingdon Children’s Centre offers a wide range of free services for parents, children and young people in South Abingdon and the surrounding areas.
Services available for families to access include Drop-in sessions where parents/carers can share fun activities together which encourage children’s learning and development, such as messy play, cooking, and music and movement.
Our new sensory room provides a space for children to explore and develop their senses and skills. From following bright lights, shapes and patterns with their eyes to pressing buttons to make the large bubble tube change colour.
The Centre runs a Young Parents Group, Baby Massage Courses, and a weekly Saturdads session for all Dads and male carers. For older children we run a weekly after school family drop-in and play scheme activities in the school holidays
A Family Support Worker is attached to the centre and carries out in depth work around parenting, housing issues and money management with families in their own homes.
In partnership with other agencies the Centre provides antenatal and postnatal care, sessions around children’s health and development, parenting courses, support groups for families of children with special needs and adult education courses.
Caldecott School and Trio Childminding Network work with us to provide wrap-around childcare for children from birth to five years of age.
