One to One support

PACT has been commissioned by a number of Local Authorities to deliver housing one to one support to families, as defined in the government initiative Supporting People and also through direct Local Authority objectives. This is delivered by our team of Family Support Workers who visit service users on a regular basis either in their own homes or other suitable location. The purposes of one to one support within PACT might be to enable a family to sustain their housing whether as an owner-occupier, tenant or licensee and therefore avoid homelessness, or support in moving from temporary to permanent accommodation, or supporting a victim of domestic abuse or offering advice and support around employment, education and training.
Support can also include budgeting, furnishings, access to benefits, utility connection, access to health, education or community activities, neighbour relations, home safety as identified in the assessment process and agreed in the support plan. The work with an individual / family can last for up to two years.

Penny's Story

Penny was 16 years old when she was referred to PACT. She was pregnant but had been concealing her pregnancy. She was also having problems at home with her mother and stepfather and needed to find somewhere else to live. Penny’s partner and the father of her daughter was very controlling, telling Penny what to wear and disliking her going out and mixing with other people. He continually called and texted her to check where she was.
After several home visits we were able to find Penny a place to live with her daughter in supported accommodation, and were able to sort out all of her benefits, which she had been told she would not be entitled to.
Having built up a positive relationship with Penny, through successful support, she is now able to attend our groups, has been on a trip with us and has joined the Toy Library. She is much more confident and has even started to change her appearance. Penny has also asked for help to attend a support group which looks at issues surrounding domestic abuse.
