Alana House shortlisted for award

PACT’s women’s community project Alana House has been shortlisted for an award.

Alana House, which is based in Reading, uses a holistic approach to support and empower vulerable women to make positive changes in their lives.

The Ministry of Justice funded Female Offender Community Support Programme has been shortlisted for a Howard League for Penal Reform Community Award.

The funding enabled a new partnership between Alana House and Elizabeth Fry Charity to launch a programme that included individual support, structured groupwork and the opportunity to gain skills and qualifications through the new Alana House Community Café.

The programme received 50 referrals between October 2018 and March 2020 and none of the engaged women had reoffended during that time.

The winners will be announced on 20th October. A full list of categories and shortlisted projects are available on the Howard League website
