Independent Adoption Panel Member

PACT is one of the UK’s leading independent adoption charities, placing children with secure and loving families and supporting them with specialist therapeutic support.

Our Adoption Panel Members play a very important role at PACT by considering applications from those wishing to become adoptive parents.

We are looking to grow our central list of members on our Adoption Panel and would love to hear from people who have a sound understanding of the adoption process (from either professional or personal experience) and can demonstrate an awareness of the richness of different kinds of families and their potential for meeting children’s needs.  We would be particularly interested to hear from specialists in education, mental health workers, health visitors and those with personal experience of adoption.

Whilst we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and cultures, we are committed to strengthening the diversity of our panel.  We recognise that we are missing out on contributions from:

  • men,
  • people aged 21-40,
  • people from diverse ethnicities,
  • people of different faiths,
  • people living with a disability, and
  • people who can offer a perspective from LGBTQ+ communities.

The time commitment will be approximately 4-6 days per year to attend panel, plus 2 training days per year.

Panel Members are paid £200 per panel, plus travel and other reasonable expenses.
