Sian McCarten
Sian McCarten is taking part in the iconic TCS London Marathon in April in support of adoption charity PACT.
Sian, aged 38, is a PE teacher in Gillingham and an adoptive mum to two sons. She said she was most looking forward to having her sons see her cross the finish line!
“When deciding to take on the challenge of running the London Marathon in 2023, I knew almost instantly that my chosen charity would be PACT. Not just because of my own personal journey, but what PACT stands for as a charity.
“PACT works tirelessly to ensure that the services it provides promotive positive experiences and outcomes for not just adoptive parents, but more importantly the children.
“Children within the care system are placed in care for no fault of their own and some often find it difficult to find their forever home. With PACT’s support and guidance, children are given the opportunity to change the path in which they have entered.
“PACT aims to empower, encourage and enlighten all children to recognise that their journey in this world is just beginning. With extensive therapy and support, children are given the opportunity to start again, to become anything they want to be, with no barriers or limitations.
“As an adoptive parent of two beautiful, energetic, funny young boys, I feel it is essential to raise money to not just raise awareness of adoption, but to support charities like PACT that have made a difference to the lives of so many.”
Sian is one of seven members of Team PACT who will be running the 26.2 miles around the streets of London on 23rd April.
She has a £1,600 fundraising target and is collecting donations to her page at https://2023tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/sian-mccarten
She said: “Being an adoptive parent can be challenging at times, dealing with the traumas and experiences that the children bring with them and PACT support all of this by giving 24/7 guidance and support.
“Without charities like PACT, it would be near enough be impossible to achieve stable, loving and successful families all across the country, so for those reason alone, I am asking for support to raise as much money as I possibly can to promote and support such a wonderful charity.”
