Supporter of the Month May2020
John Southern, volunteer at PACT
John Southern started volunteering with PACT in 2014 after he retired. He is the Receptionist at PACT’s Reading office one day a week and assists with various admin and research tasks for different teams.
In September 2018, he nominated PACT for the Pride of Reading Awards. Two months later, PACT was thrilled to find out that they had won the award and John is pictured here at the awards ceremony.
John said he likes the variety of tasks he is asked to do at PACT and the people he works with, and has enjoyed the routine and structure that volunteering at PACT has given him during his retirement. He said: “Coming here gives my week structure and I enjoy the interaction with people. It’s a lovely place to volunteer – everyone is so friendly and welcoming, and appreciative of the help I can give them. I would definitely recommend it.”
His positivity and warmth is evident to anyone who walks through PACT’s doors and, six years on, he continues to be a wonderful addition to the PACT family.
Thank you so much John for all the time and energy you have given to PACT: you are a superstar!
