Jane Deeks, Alana House volunteer

Jane began volunteering with Alana House women’s community project in 2015.

Since she started, Jane has been a wonderful asset to the Alana House team, working with the women in drop-in sessions, group work and more recently helping with one-to-one sessions as a support assistant. She has been a great source of support for our service users, helping with activities, courses, phone calls, appointment bookings, IT skills, the café, one-to-one work, referrals, special events, refreshments… the list goes on!

Jane is really appreciated by the women she works with, who find her calm and reassuring. She knows many of them well and steps in wherever she sees someone who needs support, whether that’s sitting with someone who is upset, welcoming new arrivals or working with those who need extra support in group sessions.

When the coronavirus pandemic began, Jane worked hard to support the virtual activities that Alana House ran and has been a great help in adapting group sessions to changing circumstances during these difficult times.

Jane said: “Alana House is an amazing place that provides such an incredible service to the women and I feel so proud to be part of a brilliant team.”

Thank you so much Jane for all the support you have given to Alana House: you are a PACT superstar!
