Family and Friends webinar

This on-demand video recording is designed for the relatives and close friends of  PACT’s adoptive families. Adoptive parents receive access to this webinar in stage 2 and they can then share it with their support network. This is followed by a network meeting once adoptive parents are matched with a child or children.

The webinar provides:

  • An overview of the backgrounds of children placed for adoption
  • An overview of attachment theory and how children placed for adoption can form healthy attachments
  • An opportunity to explore ways of supporting adoptive parents and adopted children

The webinar includes three interviews:

  • A solo adoptive parent whose family lives abroad, exploring how they remained involved in the adoption journey
  • An adoptive parent of a sibling group of two and the children’s grandad, discussing his role in supporting the family
  • Grandparents of a sibling group of three

If you are a friend or family member of a PACT adopter and you would like to request a copy of the recording for your own training, please ask the prospective adopter.

Network meetings

Social workers hold these targeted meetings after a match is confirmed.

The meeting provides a valuable opportunity for family and friends to gain specific insights into the child joining their family. This allows them to tailor their support in the most effective ways, directly addressing the unique needs of the new family member.
