About our work
PACT has a wealth of experience from delivering quality adoption services and community projects for vulnerable families, women and children for more than 100 years across southern and central England.
In doing this we work collaboratively with a number of key stakeholders including local companies, schools, churches, healthcare professionals and childcare practitioners. This enables us to confidently provide holistic services that assess and meet the individual needs of the children, families and women who we support, and to ensure the best outcomes and life chances are realised.
Our expertise is across the sectors of adoption, adoption support, women’s centres, women in the criminal justice system, domestic abuse, supporting people affected by adverse childhood experiences and digital support platforms for families and professionals.
We welcome enquiries from organisations and local authorities to partner with us in any of these fields. Please get in touch to find out more.

PACT has excellent local knowledge and networks, demonstrated with many local partnerships including local companies, churches, schools and healthcare providers. This ensures we are best placed to reach the children and families most in need, and to work together in partnerships, to ensure the best outcomes and life chances are realised.

Buckinghamshire Adoption Partnership
Buckinghamshire Council has joined the Regional Adoption Agency (RAA) programme, benefiting from a national network joining up adoption activity across the country. The council has secured a partnership with PACT to form Buckinghamshire Adoption Partnership. We are working together to deliver the RAA following a public launch in January 2024.
The RAA will build on the considerable experience and complementary strengths of both organisations with a clear focus on delivering improved outcomes for children and families.
Foundations
PACT’s Bounce Back 4 Kids (BB4K) programme has received funding from Foundations as part of a national five year plan to transform domestic abuse services.
Shocking figures from Foundations, the country’s leading research centre for family support services, reveal that more children could suffer domestic abuse than start primary school in England and Wales this year.
Foundations has launched REACH, a 5-year plan to find out what works and transform domestic abuse services. This could make England the first country in the world to identify a set of proven approaches to support child victims.
BB4K is one of six programmes that are being funded and evaluated as part of REACH.

Oxford Diocese
PACT’s partnership with the Diocese of Oxford dates back to 1911 when the then Bishop of Oxford, Bishop Francis Paget, appointed a rescue worker, Miss Sharpe, who visited unmarried mothers to help them build a better life for their children. The Oxford Diocesan Council for Prevention and Rescue Work was established and, more than a century later, is still helping women, children and families today as PACT!
Although now an independent charity working with people of many different faiths, or no faith, PACT retains its strong affiliation with the Diocese of Oxford and is proud that The Rt. Rev the Lord The Bishop of Oxford is our patron.
University of Reading
PACT also has academic partnerships with local schools and universities.
We offer placement opportunities to students at the University of Reading. The university fully supports this partnership, knowing that their students will gain knowledge and experience which will enhance their studies and future career.
Every year, we offer placements to University of Reading psychology students to work within our BB4K team. In this year-long placement, students gain an insight into the way our BB4K works with children and families affected by domestic abuse. Students are encouraged to join groups, undertake training and receive regular supervision from BB4K’s senior staff.
Recently, PACT has offered placements to two law students who have shown an interest in custody and court work. We are excited to offer further opportunities in the future.
