Jason takes on mountain challenge for PACT

Wokingham man Jason Law is taking on a second intrepid challenge to raise funds for PACT.

Jason, aged 50, ran the London Marathon for PACT earlier this year and this November he plans to take on the mountain challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro!

Jason is no stranger to challenges, having run 12 marathons but his only other mountain-climbing experience so far has been climbing Snowden last November and some 10-mile training hikes in the Brecon Beacons.

He said: “After running my 11th and 12th marathons this year, one of them being the London Marathon for PACT, I wanted a different physically and mentally challenge combined with an adventure.

“I see Kilimanjaro, with its diverse landscapes, not just about reaching the summit but about embracing a journey, every step of the way. Climbing Kilimanjaro for me is about connecting with nature, experiencing its power and beauty, and seeing myself as part of something far bigger. It’s a chance to unplug from the world. A journey to reset and recharge, one that could transform how I view challenges in life afterwards.

“The reason I’m climbing Kilimanjaro though may only become clear on the way up.”

Mount Kilimanjaro is 5,896 metres high and the plan is to climb up for seven days, including one rest day, and down for two days. The temperature at the base of the mountain is 15-30 degrees but at the summt, they can drop to -7 to -20 degrees.

Jason said: “My preparation has involved purchasing the kit list which is fairly large but we are only allowed to carry 9kg.

“I’m looking forward to every bit of the experience but the summit day, although tough will hopefully, if I get there, be the highlight!”

Jason hopes to raise as much money as he can for PACT’s services supporting women, children and families. To support him please visit his fundraising page.
