PACT has successfully secured funding to lead a pilot project aimed at improving support for adoptive families during their children’s primary education.
The Early Education Pathways project will bring together PACT, Adopt Thames Valley, Coram Ambitious Adoption and Buckinghamshire Adoption to deliver specialist support for adoptive families and schools across the region.
The initiative builds on PACT’s long-standing expertise in education. For many years families have benefited from the guidance of Amy, PACT’s specialist Education Lead, who has helped parents and schools better understand and respond to the unique challenges that adopted children can face in the classroom.
Through the new pilot, PACT will expand this project to reach more families and schools, while also building evidence for proactive early adoption support during the primary school years.
The team will provide expert advice, training and support for parents and education professionals. Working with PACT’s existing education lead and a newly appointed education assistant, the team will help families and schools identify tools and realistic strategies to meet children’s needs and enable them to thrive in education.
This pilot will also enable the development of a dedicated Education Pathways Hub within PACT’s existing CATCH digital platform. The hub will provide resources, information and guidance for families and schools, giving the team flexibility to respond to emerging needs fand share learning.
