Identity and adolescence workshop for PACT adoptive parents
Adolescence is a time of significant change for all young people, but adopted teenagers can face additional questions about identity, belonging, relationships and their life story. This online workshop will help parents better understand the teenage years through an adoption lens and explore practical ways to support their child’s emotional wellbeing, identity development and resilience.
This online workshop will cover:
- What identity means and how it develops during adolescence
- The impact of brain development and adolescence on behaviour and emotions
- Adoption, belonging and the search for identity
- The experiences of adopted young people from diverse backgrounds
- Strengths, vulnerabilities and common risks during the teenage years
- Practical strategies for supporting adopted teenagers
The first workshop will take place on Wednesday 9th December, 9.30am – 1.30pm. The workshop will be delivered by Heather Liveston, a senior adoption social worker.
