A welcome home – National Adoption Week 2025
This National Adoption Week, we are celebrating the “perfectly imperfect” homes that make adoption possible with this year’s campaign A Welcome Home.
The campaign from You Can Adopt aims to inspire more people to consider adoption by challenging the myth that you need a ‘perfect’ home to adopt. It highlights what truly matters: love, stability, and a sense of belonging.
Like all families, adoptive homes come in all shapes and sizes. You can welcome a child into the heart of your home – whether that’s owned or rented, big or small, or whether it’s just you, a partner, other children or your extended family. 🥰

PACT is urging people to consider becoming a parent through adoption as there are currently more children waiting for a family than people approved to adopt.
Latest data shows a worrying drop in adoption interest with 12% fewer families stepping forward to register to adopt compared to last year, leaving 2,940 children in need of adoption.
On average, it now takes 292 days from the moment a child is approved for
adoption, to when they’re placed with a family – 11 days longer than last
year. These delays highlight the urgent need for more people to consider
adoption.

Adoption support for life
Whether you need support before, immediately after placement or years down the line, PACT is here to walk alongside you. Our goal is to help every child reach their full potential and to ensure every adoptive parent feels supported, empowered and connected. 💙

We’ve had a smooth journey with PACT and we’re forever grateful for [our social worker]. She’s been brilliant, and the whole PACT team have been wonderful.

The social worker I was assigned to was very good. I felt that she understood where I was coming from and I was able to talk through issues without feeling there was any judgment formed against me.

PACT has been on hand at every stage to help with any query we had. Our social worker responded quickly to all of our emails, and even when things were tricky they were proactively checking in with us. Even now that the Adoption Order has been granted we are still able to contact them for help and support, which is tremendously reassuring for the future.

One of our key priorities was that there would be support longer term if we needed it and we were really impressed with PACT’s training and support events, as well as their dedicated therapeutic social workers who would be available for support after our child came home.

I really feel that PACT prepared us brilliantly for the transition and the early days. We will always be learning but I come back to things from training every day!

I felt I was well equipped and informed at each part of the journey and the training days were interesting and enlightening.
