PACT welcomes the apology made by the Prime Minister on behalf of the Government and the recent Church of England statement acknowledging its role in historic post-war adoption practices. We recognise the profound and lasting impact these practices have had on unmarried mothers, children, families and others.
PACT was previously known as the Oxford Diocesan Council for Social Work and had a long history of community and social work. We are committed to acknowledging our history and listening with compassion to those whose experiences were shaped by earlier services delivered by the organisation.
We support ongoing efforts to better understand historic adoption practices and will continue our work to build a clearer picture of the past.
We are very proud of the organisation that we have now become. PACT’s adoption practice is grounded in respect, openness and the rights and wellbeing of children and families
Above all, we express our sincere sympathy for everyone affected. If you have been impacted and would like to share your experience or seek support, PACT is committed to responding with respect and care.
