This month, the Supporters of the Month are the amazing volunteers from Project Linus! It is the mission of Project Linus UK to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children, who are sick, disabled, disadvantaged or distressed by donating gifts of unique, homemade, washable quilts and blankets, lovingly made by UK volunteer knitters and quilters.
For over six years, their incredible volunteers have been creating beautiful handmade quilts for children supported by Bounce Back for Kids (BB4K). BB4K is a trauma-informed programme that uses therapeutic techniques to support children who have been affected by domestic abuse. These blankets are far more than just blankets they are symbols of safety, comfort, and care.
Each quilt is thoughtfully made to offer children a sense of warmth and security, which is essential in helping them rebuild trust and emotional connection. When shared between parent and child, the quilt becomes a tool for nurturing attachment, encouraging closeness, and supporting healing conversations. It can serve as a gentle reminder that they are not alone, and that recovery is possible together.
These quilts are a tangible expression of compassion and hope, helping families feel seen, supported, and held as they move through their healing journey.
Panda, BB4K Service Lead, said: “At the end of a BB4K programme, each child receives their own, unique quilt hand made. These quilts help the children and parents to have a physical reminder of the growth they have shared and the attachment they have improved or formed. We are incredibly grateful to everyone from Project Linus who has taken the time to make these beautiful quilts. So many hours of hard work and dedication have gone into making these beautiful keepsakes, which are now treasured by the hundreds of children and families we’ve supported.”
Lillian from Berkshire Project Linus said: “ We chose to support PACT/BB4K because we know how much their support and therapeutic training helps the children and young people that are referred to BB4Ks programme. Their vital work makes a difference to those who have experienced domestic violence.
We hope our handmade quilts will bring some comfort at a difficult time. Our volunteers send a “hug in a quilt” to each and every one of them. Keep up this important work!”
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported this wonderful work so far. We’re delighted to recognise you as this month’s PACT super star Supporters of the Month!
