Amelia Selley

Amelia was a second-year law student at the University of Reading when she first enquired about a voluntary role with PACT. She joined us in April 2025 as a Custody and Court Volunteer, and from the outset it was clear that her sensitivity and empathy helped her quickly build trusting relationships with women experiencing very difficult circumstances.

Alongside this role, Amelia completed a 75-hour placement at Alana House, where she provided invaluable support to the team. In addition to her frontline work, Amelia also supported PACT at fundraising events and became a passionate and knowledgeable ambassador for our work.

Reflecting on her experience, Amelia said: “I chose to support PACT as it is truly such an amazing charity, and very unique in its purpose. Supporting women while facing the most difficult situations of their life is so important and crucial in today’s tough society. I’ll be forever grateful for the team at Alana House for a great opportunity. Supporting the brilliant ladies who run the team has been a true privilege.”

Maisie, from the Alana House team, said: “Amelia has been an incredible support to Alana House and the women we work with. From her first day, she has been proactive, confident, helpful, and most importantly, passionate about supporting women. She has spoken with and met many women, completed referrals, and helped ensure they are now receiving ongoing support from Alana House keyworkers. This demonstrates the impact of her work.

“Even after her placement ended, Amelia continued to support Alana House while balancing university and travelling home, something we really appreciate. Her dedication has been invaluable, and we are very sorry to see her go. Thank you so much, Amelia!”

Sarah, PACT’s Community Fundraiser, also highlighted Amelia’s wider impact: “Amelia is an excellent volunteer with an experience base that really adds to the events we attended. She is also enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the work PACT does. Working with Ameila has been a treat.”

Chris, PACT’s Volunteer Co-ordinator, added: “Amelia will be returning home to Devon at the end of May and will be greatly missed by us all. We wish her success in her chosen career and a happy and bright future.”
