Lily, eight-year-old volunteer

Lily, aged eight, has supported PACT several times over the last year alongside her mum Rachel, who works in PACT’s fundraising team.

A few months ago, Lily helped PACT by expertly reading out a series of quotes from children who attended the Bounce Back 4 Kids domestic abuse recovery programme. The PACT team recorded the quotes and used them to create a video demonstrating the amazing impact of the BB4K service and the difference it makes to children’s lives.

In the spring of 2023, PACT created a new online support platform for parents and children affected by domestic abuse. The platform aims to help children and their parents begin the healing process together through a series of interactive games and learning resources. Lily kindly helped to test the platform with her mum to make sure the resources were engaging and child-friendly.

Last Christmas, Lily also helped out at PACT’s carol concert at Reading Minster. The carol service is run by PACT each year to bring the local community together and fundraise for PACT’s services, and Lily helped to sell star lights to attendees to raise money for PACT.

Lily said:

“It’s nice to support PACT. I really liked the carol concert and I liked that the kids could go up to the front and sing. I think PACT is very good at helping people. It’s been fun to volunteer.”

Thank you Lily; you are a PACT superstar!

Our 2023 carol concert will be held at Reading Minster on Friday 1st December at 6.30pm this year so please save the date. If you are interested in volunteering, find out more here on our website.
